FINGER LIME - COLLETTE

Fingerlime - ColletteBotanical Name: Microcitrus australasica
Description

Flavour is highly aromatic and has been rated as superior by Chefs. Fruit is highly ornamental, with its shiny black skin and as a cut fruit, as it has a dark lime green pulp. Displays well as a garnish, with the juice vesicles popping out on cutting and the fruit splitting open wide. Its wide shape facilitates scooping out the pulp with a teaspoon. Rind colour is black/purple at optimum maturity and pulp colour is a dark yellow/green. Mean fruit size is 50mm x 25mm. It is a mid to late season variety but bears fruit all year round.

Fantastic tasting fruit which seem to be tastier and more aromatic then my other finger-limes.  Bought tree already bearing fruit (tree about 30cm height), and a few weeks ago started flowering again  - can see tiny little Limes forming

Flowering again in Sept. - seems quite precocious. Great little tree.

Dark skinned fruit with bright lime-green vesicles.

No pests as yet, but seems a little more prone to magnesium deficiency chlorosis than my other citrus, so now will be getting regular epsom salts.

Comments: - Compact shrub like tree but a bit thorny. It is quite ornamental with interesting fruit. Beautiful colour of vesicles in a fluorescent lime green. I think I prefer the taste of regular lime though.
