The leathery rough dark-purple skin turns to black when ripe. H Aug-Dec. Hass is an A type variety and for good fruit set a B type variety is needed for cross pollination. Suggested varieties to grow alongside a Hass are Shepard, Sharwill, Fuerte, Bacon (if you're in a cooler climate)and Linda. Happy fresh avocado smashing.

Large, flat fruit of excellent quality, non-astringent and seedless when grown on its own. Being a dwarf variety it is well suited to backyards but is also a good commercial variety. Will fruit as early as March in the subtropics. Ichikikijiro generally produce only one flush of growth in the spring so don't be alarmed if your tree is not growing in summer, this habit contributes to their small stature.

Good healthy plants with new growth. These are heading to our property in the South Burnett. Will soak before planting in a mix of active soil, mushroom compost blended with the light forest loam for a turbo charged start. Will take photos as these progress taking hold. They will be planted in a frost free position on our block with mulch around the drip line.

Gets lots of sun and heat from the brick wall, the plan is to do some kind of informal espalier. The planter box is bottomless.Got loads of flowers and fruit forming but cut them off to let it grow more before fruiting, it will need a couple more years...
