Dwarf Mulberry - Red Shahtoot

$54.00 ($29.00-$99.00 choose a size)

Much more compact in growth habit than the King White Shahtoot. These delicious sweet fruits can reach 10cm in length. Ideal for back yards and we consider it a must have fruit tree for the back yard. The best way to eat mulberries is fresh from the tree. If some should make it to the kitchen bench they make excellent pies, jams, wines and sauces. Multiple crops are possible by pruning directly after your first crop. Suitable for most regions of Australia, although it can be susceptible to damage from late frosts. The red shahtoot is ideal for growing in pots and containers due to it small growing habit and it is ideal for school gardens as it does not produce fruits that stain and the sweet fruits are very appealing to children. This variety is best suited to warm subtropical climates and does not perform well in temperate climate where it tends to drop their fruit.

In tropical climates it can be grown as a marginal plant in dams and ponds, used as a bedding plant in tropical landscaping. Outside of the tropics, well worth trying as indoor plant in winter with a warm, sunny aspect. Allow the plant to dry out over the winter months, but maintain humidity

Winter Apple

$17.90 ($4.90-$17.90 choose a size)

A reliable ground cover for many areas. Well suited to a range of soils provided drainage is reasonable, and is best located in a sunny position. Severe frosts may damage the plant but it will often recover quickly once the weather warms up. The small flowers occur in the leaf axils and are usually pale mauve but white and blue forms are also found. The main flowering period is summer but spasmodic flowering may occur at other times. The fleshy fruits that appear in autumn are perhaps the most attractive feature of the plant. They are about 1cm in diameter, green in colour with pink or reddish tones.

Lime - Tahitian

$44.95 ($39.00-$69.00 choose a size)

The small to medium fruit is pale lemon-yellow with smooth thin skin. The flesh is a translucent pale green, tender and juicy with a true acid lime flavour. It is best to pick the fruit green as it can suffer from rot if left to ripen on the tree.

Please see our video where we demonstrate how to use it.We think there are 2 essential tools for growing Fruit Trees. 1st is secateurs and the 2nd is this Dwarfing Tool.Uses- Dwarfing- Forcing plants to fruit quicker.- Fruiting outside of seasonal times- Alternating branches to fruit every 2nd year. The technique of cincturing or girdling fruit trees is a complicated topic that we try to make simple in this video because many of us like to push the boundaries of what is possible. It may look harmful but has been used by previous generations such as the Old Italian gardeners who knew how to get the most out of their backyard fruit trees.

Davidsons Plum - Smooth

D. johnsonni - Unfortunately, it's probably just the gardener, but I have had little luck trying to grow these. I have a couple from many years ago that are still only 30cm high and one is just starting to flower! The last couple I got died despite following directions to the letter for their propagation. D. jerseyana seem to grow as easily as weeds in the same area, so it remains a mystery to me. I really want to get these endangered species established to compliment the other two species.

Davidsons Plum - Smooth

Went well in pot in half shade sun. Almost carked it in spot a year after planting. The sun is fierce now. I am going to cincture and removed all fruit. Mulched & built up soil / humus plus more water. Better even after 43 deg heat Jan 2017 Hunter coastal
