Native to China, the Yuzu has been used and cultivated in this region for thousands of years. The fruit is tart, resembling a grapefruit with mandarin overtones. It is rarely eaten as a fresh fruit but is used to makes sauces, preserves and a popular yuzu vinegar. In Korea thinly sliced fruits are combined with sugar and honey to make a thick marmalade like syrup. Yuzu kosho is a spicy Japanese sauce made from green or ripe yellow yuzu zest, chillis and salt. Davidsons Plum - Smooth

D. johnsonni - Unfortunately, it's probably just the gardener, but I have had little luck trying to grow these. I have a couple from many years ago that are still only 30cm high and one is just starting to flower! The last couple I got died despite following directions to the letter for their propagation. D. jerseyana seem to grow as easily as weeds in the same area, so it remains a mystery to me. I really want to get these endangered species established to compliment the other two species.
