Sarah88au15 starts with ... Hi there. Just wondering what the issue is with my blueberry. I am located in subtropical Queensland 3 1/2hrs north of Brisbane on the coast. Species. Britewell? Or Powderblue? Location. Full sun on palette Pot size 430mm Soil. Pitting mix, pine bark chips 40-50% with additional peat moss Sugar cane mulching to protect surface roots 1 1/2inches deep. I know we have had a bit of rain but the pot seems to be draining well. Is it likely the soil is still lacking some elements? The plants are only new and look fairly young is it possible they are not use to this amount of sun yet? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Regards Sarah

Polly says... I'm in CQ and my Powder Blue lost all it's leaves last winter, they went red and brown and fell off but it continued to bloom and fruit. It was just a few straggly branches when I bought it. It grew well over the summer and currently has another crop of berries ripening, it is starting to lose it's leaves again. Is your other blueberry the same type? I have a Blue Rose which is dropping leaves and a Sunshine Blue which is still lush and looks like it's about to flower. | About the Author Polly Yeppoon 20th June 2015 3:55pm #UserID: 10627 Posts: 2 View All Polly's Edible Fruit Trees |

Sarah88au15 says... Ok. That's reassuring. The leaves have gone red and the central cane is pink tinged. I can't be sure if it's a sharpblue or powderblue as all my varieties had tags but my smal children...bless their little socks...play with the tags and try to put them back, just not in the right spots I think. So perhaps the offending plant is a powderblue and will be ok. No further leaves have fallen and it did not lose all its leaves. The other neighboring plant is an evergreen variety I think. | About the Author Sarah88au15 Pialba 20th June 2015 9:08pm #UserID: 11528 Posts: 6 View All Sarah88au15's Edible Fruit Trees |
