mcmelb1 starts with ... Hi, I was wondering if anyone has any cuttings or plants of Chinese/Japanese Pomelo cultivars they are willing to swap or sell? I am also interested in cuttings from trees grown from seeds of Chinese/Japanese cultivars since i think actual cultivars may be hard to come by here. | About the Author mc1 SOUTH YARRA,3141,VIC 9th March 2018 11:41pm #UserID: 14853 Posts: 62 View All mc1's Edible Fruit Trees |
Fruitylicious1 says... Hi McMelb I have come across an interesting story about a 100 years old pomelo tree at the back garden of The Bendigo Museum in Vic that still bears fruit I believe to this day. I'm pretty sure Bendigo temperature is as cold as Melbourne. That shaddock was brought by Chinese immigrants during the gold rush era. If you can get some budwood and graft it to an orange, lemon, trifoliata, flying dragon etc then you can have an original Chinese cold tolerant pomelo grown and bred in Victoria. Give the Museum a ring to confirm my findings. As Always....Happy gardening :-) | About the Author Fruitylicious1 TAMWORTH,2340,NSW 10th March 2018 6:33pm #UserID: 16885 Posts: 709 View All Fruitylicious1's Edible Fruit Trees |
