Dragon Fruit (forum)

Peter starts with ...
I have several Dragon Fruit vines, and one is several years old, and it is huge. Last year it produced one flower, and nothing else. This year it had quite a few spectacular flowers. I was told that the reason that there has been no fruit is because it is a male plant. I have not read anywhere that DF has male and female sexes. Is this true that there are male and female plants?
I would love to get an answer on this question

Hi Peter
You will probably find it is a matter of pollination. Most people find if they don't have the insects to do the job they need to do it by hand. Here is a video which may help

Thanks for the thread link. Seems I just have to wait a bit to get fruit. It threw a few spectacular flowers a month ago. I hope it is a dragon fruit and not a similar cactus. It has grown to about 10 metres. Will need a ladder. What do you think about the current proposal to outlaw cactus and a lot of other native species, such as our national emblem, the wattle, putting them in the same category as cannabis, opium poppy etc and jailing growers? The bureaucrats have gone mad.
