Guava Seedling - years to fruit? (forum)

Hi all!

A question for the veteran guava growers here. I am considering whether to buy a guava seedling (versus a cutting). Does anyone have a guava grown from seedling and knows how long it took to reach fruit bearing age?

I am worried because my research on the internet seems to indicate anywhere from five to eight years. I just want to set my expectations.

Thanks in advance for any and all guava advice:)

PS: Which is better, the pink or white guavas? Which is your favourite?

Five to eight years seems about right, you could shorten that by growing it fast and pushing it to full size, keep the seedling active in winter. They should be faster in warmer climates.

Jakfruit is right. Cherry guava and strawberry guava would the exception as they would fruit in a year or two.
