l have two large gum trees about ten meters tall about five meteres from my septic tank and septic drainage field, they were there ten years ago when the septic system was installed but have doubled in height since then, so far l dont think the roots have caused any problems but worried they may in the future, l have two options , l can get the trees cut back , cut in half from ten to five meters tall or l can get them both totally removed . what do you think the better option is, if l get them cut back would it stop or slow down the roots so they wont cause any problems or should l go with the safer option and have them both totally removed.

Most likely, if you cut those gum trees by half, the large fine from the council might help you build several septic systems.
Apply first, I doubt they allow you to do that.

Do you know what type they are? There used to be a leaflet available from garden centres that showed you what not to plant. I have a copy somewhere.
