neil 1964 starts with ... I've been growing an avocado from seed in a pot. Doing very well, until Xmas..... I put the pot in a bucket to make sure the pot didn't dry out! It then rained and rained. I think I drowned the thing. All the leaves are brown and dry. Is it completely dead, or should I persist? | About the Author neilh1964 sydney 12th January 2010 7:51pm #UserID: 3239 Posts: 2 View All neilh1964's Edible Fruit Trees |
au0rey says... Hi Neil, SOrry I am not sure if it is dead. I have grown an avocado from seed before at the vege patch but never uprooted it when I moved. I read that avocado trees grown from seed can grow very big and they take more than 10 years to fruit..and not even sure if they are guaranteed to fruit. Not sure if you considered this if yours is meant for fruits. :) | About the Author 12th January 2010 8:25pm #UserID: 0 Posts: View All 's Edible Fruit Trees |

Araich says... It may be ok. Let it dry out a little (not completely) and if you have it, put some gypsum (a couple of handfuls) around the pot surface to water in over time. Watch for little leaves forming at the tip ends. Give it a couple of months and there is a chance it will come back. Don't worry if it sheds all it's leaves first. | About the Author Araich Melbourne 12th January 2010 10:01pm #UserID: 2933 Posts: 58 View All Araich's Edible Fruit Trees |
