Charlie starts with ... Hello , could someone please help me with an inquiry rergards the growth of walnut like globules growing on the trunk and branches of my mothers lemon tree. Carla says... I think you have Gall Wasps. Please refer to the picture. There are no practical chemical controls for home gardeners. But the other alternative is to remove all infected stems (cutting back to well behind the galls) by the end of August at the latest, before the adult wasps emerge. Remove and burn cut off stems. Otherwise you will restart the wasps cycle. As your tree is middle aged a good prune and top dress will be much appreciated and will invigorate new growth.
