Does the Myer lemon tree have spikes? I have an old tree on the property I bought 6 years ago, it is never without fruit and has no spikes and I have been told it is a Myer. I looked at Myer lemons at Bunnings the other day and they were covered with long hard spikes I don't want any spikes.

Mine certainly does although not a great number. The tree we had in old home was over 30 years old and I don't recall seeing any.

Generally not. Were they grafted at Bunnings? Or is this the flood of cutting grown citrus hitting the stores, taken from water shoots?

Paul at VP, Young Citrus trees of the same type can be thornier, and so can vigorous new shoots on older trees, but an old Citrus tree wont develop any more thorns over time. If your tree hasnt got thorns now, it doesnt seem like it will get any more. Unless you intend to buy a new tree from Bunnings, I dont see any problem.
