I have a Orange tree in my backyard with lots and lots of Oranges but last year the fruit refused to turn orange and this year it does not look any better either. Does anyone know what is missing here?

russ, do you mean it is cold weather that is missing? 'Cos that is certainly right. Oranges won't turn orange unless it is cold enough. In very warm climates they stay green.

But our neighbour has a mandarin tree and they turned orange, what is the difference?

Hi Tinka, oranges require a winter dormancy (ie: cooler temps) to colour. You could try with-holding water to induce this. Different species of citrus have many different requirements depending on their preferred climate etc - maybe the mandarins next door need less chill, are suited to the climate etc.
Green orange juice is actually quite nice for some recipies... I use it in my asian-inspired chilli mussel sauce..mmm

Hi Irene,
Give your tree some dolomite, gypsum and sulphate of potash, that should help it fruit.
Lots of mulch out to or past the dripline, and water that in.
