Pauline says... I can't see how a shade house would help with slugs and snails. By far the best solution I ever found was going out in the dark with a torch and stamping on them. I used to have thousands of them in the UK, tried nematodes and everything, but stamping was the only thing that made any difference. Those snails and slugs certainly had no problem with timber. I had a whole rough timber covered fence and it would be one of my best place for picking them off. | About the Author Pauline Adelaide 1st December 2010 10:47pm #UserID: 1532 Posts: 293 View All Pauline's Edible Fruit Trees |
Julie says... I put this on another thread a while ago. Sensitive stomachs be warned! I collected snails most nights over a couple of winters, and had few snails around this year. I put them in a four litre ice cream container, covered them with water and put the lid on. A couple of months later - fertiliser! Smelly, but this soon goes away. I figure they can put back what they have taken! And I agree with Pauline. | About the Author Julie Roleystone WA 2nd December 2010 8:48pm #UserID: 154 Posts: 1842 View All Julie's Edible Fruit Trees |
