tried back in the 80s, we lived in Wahroonga so elevation might have been a problem, if your near the coast might be ok with lots of protection

I'm just an hour north of Sydney, and mine are doing OK. I have a seedling and a Kyogle grafted variety going on to three years in the ground. They are under a large canopy of spotted gums, and I am slightly elevated so are very protected and I don't get any frost up where they are.
My African pride's near them are older and fruit well, they are very large this year. Also closeby are a seedling and two grafted Rollinia's doing well with one fruit hanging on over winter.
Is your Monkey banana also known as Choui Cau? I have some of them hopefully fruiting this year.

Its good if there is good sun to them from the side. Another good hint is to plant close in to a clump of bananas. I dont know what it is but growth is most often enhanced that way. I have done it with mango and mamey and dont see why it wouldnt work with soursop.

No, generally, tropical seedling trees have a better chance of survival in marginal colder areas over grafted trees. I'm taking a chance, given my climate, but giving it a fighting chance by covering it with a small poly-house guard over winter until it gets some size about it.
