Steve says... "Eugenia uniflora" is the red Brazilian Cherry. The black cherry in the photo looks like the black Grumichama "Eugina dombeyi". I've found the Brazilian cherry can be tart if unripe, but if left to ripen on the tree, are much sweeter. The native Cedar Bay Cherry "Eugenia moluccana" is very nice, I prefer this to the Brazilian & the black Grumichama is maybe even better. | About the Author Steve12 Coffs Harbour 5th January 2009 9:34pm #UserID: 1818 Posts: 5 View All Steve12's Edible Fruit Trees |

RolFlor a says... PHIL : Have you contacted this website (U.S.A?), below, for any seeds of the black variety of Eugenia uniflora? www.tradewindsfruit.com/surinam_cherry.htm Their website says 'Seeds Available!',but does not say if they sell the black variety. And/or grow and eat the sweet but slow growing Australian native Eugenia reinwardtiana (E.moluccana?)?
