I would not call safron a food , you dont eat it by itself , its a spice .
Saw an advert for a Fillipino KopiLuwak factory , caged civet cats were fed coffee beans !!
And Macadamias have another claim to fame , and well deserved , it is the only commercially cultivated native plant .
