Wanted: Sorbus domestica (forum)

I am looking for seedlings, cuttings, suckers, or seed of Sorbus domestica (also called Cormus domestica), which is commonly called the Service tree. I know there are occasional plantings of it around Canberra e.g. Lake George area, and around Walcha for example. But I live too far from those areas and it is seldom offered for sale. Can anybody help?

This tree is probably seed grown and it probably need chill to germintae and maybe to fruit. If I see berries I can send them but probably it is too late now. The tree should be in Mt Tomah Botanic garden.
I never ate that though.

Ian I have grafted some to hawthorn and might have some available later in the season. They don't strike from cuttings and seedlings take a looong time to fruit

Hi Doug, unfortunately I was unsuccessful with previous grafting attempts, I may try again this year though if I can get my hands on some scions

Raising a Respectable Rowan!
While most Rowans or Sorbus species are quite large trees and can take many years to reach maturity, this dwarf variety from Sichuan, China, only grows to about 1 metre. It produces pink edible berries with bright purple foliage in Autumn.
Surprised to see a few flowers already forming on this 1 year old plant. Is this normal for Rowans and do you think it might produce fruit in the next few years? Cheers!
