I have a dwarf japanese mandarin tree that has some fruit which has started to turn orange. When is the best time to pick these fruit? Should I wait till they are completely orange?

Leave them as long as you can, just keep trying one once in while until they are as sweet as you like them. I'm eating mine now, 50% orange and half sour because I have those little ring eye birds eating them :P. I can't net against these birds since they are so small they fit right through the squares in the net and they LOVE mandarins

I don't pick my mandarins till there is a sort of little hollow underneath. This goes from firm and flat to dented and softer-feeling. Weird explanation, but don't know how else to put it!

My silver Hill is sweet before its completely yellow. Im picking them now. You can always do what Jason does, just keep trying them till they are sweet enough. Next year you will have a better idea when to pick them.
