Lamb Hass still has breeders rights on it so you have to buy 20 of them from say Sunraysia nursery. I had a registered business once and I ordered 20 of Gwen and sold the ones I didn't want. Looking back and seeing how silly a variety Gwen is I should have got Lamb Hass. Then again Reed is better, ripens at the same time and is easier to get. So if you don't have Reed try and get one of those.

Thanks Jason,
I contacted sunraysia retail nursery based on one of your other posts but it seems they won't have LH for a couple of years. This may be a different case for the wholesale nursery, so I might look into this.
Tree width and fruit quality was my main concern and I thought LH would deliver on both fronts, although Reed was definitely sitting in a close second place.
I realise (again based on your previous posts) that even Hass can be pruned fairly severely to reduce width but if I reduce a Hass by half, down to, say, 4m it will still be somewhat over bearing....always happy to take advice though.

I see, I'm not sure how the Lamb Hass goes for width but the Reed is a narrow tree, pretty much straight up like Bacon. But I have tasted Lamb Hass (often marked as Hass is the supermarkets but it large and not quite as good tasting as Hass). Reed is definitely a better fruit than Lamb Hass and I'd guess a similar shape (if Lamb Hass is also narrow). So if you can't get hold of a Lamb Hass I think Reed is a pretty safe choice

My Lamb Hass is nearly 4 years old, hasn't beared a 'proper' crop yet, and is shaped like a Christmas tree, and is roughly 3m high. The tag said it was a Semi-dwarf, so we'll see.
I also think Shepard should be classed as a Semi-dwarf! Mine is growing more sideways (then up) at the moment.
