Custard Apple - African Pride (Grafted)

Edward3's Edible Fruits
Update: 289 days 8hrs

Comments: - Said to be delicious and not requiring hand pollination, so want to try growing this. In 2022 most branches dried up so were trimmed off. Remaining small branch above graft survived and is growing well, so fingers crossed. Suspect the roots are very susceptible to phytophthora, so am applying Yates Anti Rot spray on leaves once in Winter and again in early Spring. This sems to have helped. However, the single branch is not making any progress.

Update: 396 days 13hrs

Comments: -

Said to be delicious, with fewer seeds, and not requiring hand pollination, so want to try growing this.Set 2 fruits in 2023, but syddenly all leaves dried up, so I removed the fruits and will wait to see if the tree will recover. Unfortunately, I found collar rot next to the soil and the tree died.

Have planted a new tree in 2024 and am monitoring it for any sign of fungus. Have applied Yates Anti Rot in Spring, and so far so good.

Apple - Lord Lambourne (Grafted) 8/10

Edward3's Edible Fruits
Update: 1085 days 7hrs

Comments: - Growing in Katoomba and was considerably damaged by snowfall, but has managed to grow new branches above graft. Very good taste. But summer 2017 was very wet and taste not as good. Excellent in 2018. Important to pick before very ripe, otherwise turns rather soft.

I have tasted this at Perrys Heritage Orchard in Melbourne - very tasty - as good or better than Home Grown Pinkabelle

Capparis sarmentosa

A native vinous bush in the Caper family. It produces deep red berries that taste like a cross between a passionfruit and a grape. Easy to propagate from seeds but grows slowly thereafter.
