Australian selection from Victoria, excellent size up to 200gm. Very pleasant non-gritty flavour. Has proven to be a good commercial variety. Feijoas are highly ornamental with beautiful red, edible flowers followed by delicious autumn fruit.
The yellow finger lime has a beautiful bright yellow skin and very large juice vesicles inside. The balls of juice bubble out of the skin when the ripe fruits are cut in half. Use in chutneys, jams, marmalades, savoury sauces and refreshing drinks.
A medium sized deciduous tree to 15-25 meters. The bark of this ornamental tree is white with black markings. Silver birch prefers a cool winter and warm summer and it is tolerant of poor soils. Widely planted in parks and gardens where it it grown for its beautiful white bark and gracefully drooping shoots. Silver birch wood can make excellent timber for carving kitchen utensils such as wooden spoons and spatulas: its very mild, sweet flavour does not contaminate food, and it has an attractive pale colour. Bark can be heated and the resin collected; the resin is an excellent water proof gl
