Slender erect green culms that when exposed at base will reveal long green internodes that turn yellow when in contact with the sun. Gracilis is a very popular variety and for good reason. Its growth rate is rapid and can handle almost any growing conditions and soil types and still look spectacular. Also known as Slender Weaver Bamboo it has dense evergreen foliage that can be left low to the ground or pruned away to show of its many culms. Fast growing evergreen shrub, with a dense habit, that responds well to pruning. New foliage growth is brilliant red in colour, changing to bronze-green as the season progresses and maturing to be dark green. Showy white flowers appear in clusters to be followed by small berries. Ideal as a long lasting hedge, a focal point shrub/small tree, topiarised, or in pots on balconies and courtyards in courtyards.

A great choice for hotter climates with very little chill hours. It is often the first variety to hit the markets ripening a few weeks before other early blueberry varieties. The fruit is firm and the size is medium. Even though it fruits early it can often produce a second harvest later in the season although it's first time to fruit yields the best harvest. Best to mix with other varieties so that when this one is not fruiting another variety is.
