The grape loses acidity when ripe so does not hold on the vine for the purposes of wine making. A vigorous vine with extensive leaf coverage that can inhibit yields. Pruning during the growing season is desirable. This variety is highly susceptible to powdery mildew so must be grown in areas with hot, dry summers.
