Dwarf Persimmon - Fuyu (NA)

$79.00 ($79.00-$79.00 choose a size)

Fuyu is a semi-dwarf variety, well suited to growing in small backyards and can be kept to 2m with pruning. The fruit is large and flat, orange-red in colour with a sweet, mild flavour. Great eaten crunchy but just luscious when left to go soft. Besides producing delicious fruit, Persimmons are highly ornamental with their beautiful autumn foliage. Non astringent, so can be eaten when still hard. When young, protect from hot afternoon sun, and when dormant, from wet conditions. Seedless when grown on their own. If cross pollinating with another variety they can have seeds in the flesh as shown in the display picture.

Oak - English

$29.00 ($19.75-$29.00 choose a size)

A magnificent shade tree with distinctive dark green leaves and a black, furrowed trunk and branches. An excellent ornamental specimen. Performs better in cooler positions where humidity is generally low. Though some specimens thrive regardless in sub-tropical coastal climates. Some species of oak have edible acorns, though in English Oak, acorns are quite high in bitter tannins and should be boiled before eating. Alternatively, drying and grinding and then soaking can facilitate the process before using them in cooking.

Dwarf Mandarin - Emperor

$39.00

The fruit has a pale orange skin that is inclined to be puffy. Excellent flavour and loose skin that is very easy to peel. Most popular mid season variety. The fruit can be prone to drying if harvest is delayed. Flying Dragon modifies the top growth making this a dwarf plant that is ideal to use planted out or as a pot specimen. Trees will grow to about half the normal citrus size. Flying Dragon rootstock also adds cold hardiness and grows well in heavier soils, like Trifoliatia rootstock.

Dwarf Plum - Santa Rosa

$69.00

Medium sized round fruit with dark red skin and yellow to pink flesh. It has a sweet taste with slight bitterness near the stone - clingstone. Grows to a height of 2m and a width of 2m. Matures early to mid January. Partially self fertile, pollinates with Mariposa or satsuma. Used for fresh fruit, stewing preserves and jams. Vigorous upright growth habit. This is a very popular variety for home gardens and has good keeping qualities. Plant in a sunny position with well drained and well worked soil. Take care to plant the bud union above the soil level. Water in well and keep soil moist until tree is established. Fertilise when planting and again after new growth appears. Prune tree when planting to encourage new growth.

Tangelo - Minneola

$39.00

Minneola is a medium to very large, round to bell shaped fruit with a pronounced neck. The deep orange to red-orange coloured skin has a smooth pebbly peel. Very few seeds. For pollination, any early flowering mandarin will assist, for example Satsumas, Nules, Emperor or Imperial.
