They are around and would do fine in bundy. No one anywhere calls them marian plum, they are maprang.Wan is the best group but mayon chid is alright as well. The one in the picture with the duck egg is from my brother's tree.

Heya sternus, they are pretty close to mangoes and you can eat the skin. They are worthwhile alright so long as you have a good variety that isn't sour. All the good types come from Thailand. The mayom chid (sour to sweet) varieties are good but you have to wait until fruit are really ripe. Wan (sweet) types are extremely rare in Australia and they are the most desirable.
They take about 6 years to fruit from seed and do alright in the sub tropics.

Yes 2.5m specimens are easy to maintain with a little pruning. They can get 10m in the tropics if left alone.

If they're like mangoes then this is a fruit I have to have. 6 years from seed...between the green sapote and luc's garcinia I already feel like I'm 'doing time'. Is there a nursery anywhere which stock these or should I just rule that out and get seeds?

I don't know if nurseries stock them but limerlost used to.You might need some fasr fruiting Eugenias and Campomanesias to give you comfort while waiting for the 'arse draggers'.

Actually that certain gingerish-looking thing from the congo you sent me has started going gangbusters this last month--I have it in total shade too.Now that it's a little bigger I might try and introduce it to some part sun, but my guess is that it doesn't even require this. The pitomba you sent are pretty fast down here in bris, faster than jabo's from seed.

Pretty much the only thing I have with fruit on right now are blueberries, carambola, guava and papaya. I expect to have raspberries when the temperature drops a bit, summer will be the survival test.

My youngberry vines are gigantic but haven't fruited yet, hopefully this year will be the year.
