Yes. But more prone to splitting. I find mine very irregular, with 10 or so fruit every other month rather than a single heavy crop.

I would like to get a loquat - Daleys has Nagasakiwase and Bessell Brown - which would be better for Sydney?

Both equally suitable for Sydney, Mary. Bessell brown fruit is larger than Naga. Naga is sweeter.

Thanks John and ivepeters; the sweeter the better and perfume sounds good. Once I uncovered a large loquat under a veil of morning glory on a neglected plot; must have been there for decades. It survived along with a carob, stand of bananas, a pomegranate and even a grape vine. We were clearing a site for a community garden. I had recruited a team, solicited free services of a landscape designer and just as we were ready to create the beds the state govenment decided to sell the plot which was donated to the Health Department for public use and we were booted out. It's now part of the grounds of a rich private school.
