chocolate pudding fruit riddled with seed (forum)

Faun starts with ...
A friend bought a property with 2 big beautiful 'pudding' trees.

heavy with fruit some were picked only to be inedible as riddled with seed (100+). subsequent pickings were the same.

isn't this unusual, and can it be remedied for the next crop?

Black Sapote? Do you have pictures of the tree?
Its unusual to have more than 10 seeds per fruit. They are arranged in a circular cluster around the core of the fruit. I have a super sweet one that has about 10 seeds per fruit, but all in the centre with about the same amount of flesh as is taken up by the seed mass in the centre. I cant imagine how big a sapote fruit would have to be to have a seed ball of 100+ seeds in the middle of it...

It's probably not a black sapote. Elephant apple or some kind of solanum is more likely, there's no way any black sapote could have 100 plus seeds.

Randia fitzalanii ?? It has fruit a bit like black sapote, edible but not great, lots of small seed and highly scented white flowers.

Randia fitzalani at Mt Coottha botanical garden I saw had fruit the size of cricket balls. Nice chocolatey pulp with the lots of seeds quite good eating even though picked green and eaten five days later.
