Hi there again, After kind people answered my previous avo question with great suggestions, I'm rather sold on the Edranol variety. Trouble is, I can't get one. Can anyone help with a suggestion, seedling or cuttings? I have limited space for fruit trees so I want the choicest ones! Thanks again. Sandra.

Sandra, its not an easy one to track down. Birdwood is the main wholesaler I can find, so perhaps your best bet is to find your nearest retail nursery that stocks their plants (incl. most Bunnings) and ask them to order one in with their next batch on order.

I've been chasing one for a few months and I'm resigned to waiting for the Nambour Garden Show, where Birdwood sells direct to the public.

I believe sunraysia might stock them in the southern states, so if you have no luck with Birdwood distributors down there, maybe give them a call?

Hi Sandra, I ordered mine from a local nursery, and I noticed it was from Birdwood Nursery :-) http://www.birdwoodnursery.com.au/avocados/

It wasn't cheap at $45, but was a very nice specimen about 1.2m high. Still growing strong :-)

Another good avo is Lamb Hass. It's a type A and is semi-dwarf.
Did you try Daleys for the Edranol?

What a great idea, Mike. A friend of mine chopped down an eleven year old avo in her yard; it broke my heart. Wish I could have advised her to prune it back instead.

Aw Mike that sounds so sad; I know the feeling. I have to say I have to keep my trees short because they are in pots; had to find a new home for the plum and the pawpaw is testing me.

Your abius do look pretty Mike; at a casual glance they look more like a row of shrubs.

3.5 m ? They look shorter than that in the photo. You must have taken it from a height. Yes, I can see that they are a lot taller than I thought.
