Mayongchid white sap? (forum)

Bangkok starts with ...
Today i pruned my "mayongchid" a bit and there was white sap coming out of the cuts.
When i pruned my maprang-wan there is no white sap.
So did i get cheated again (it's from jatujak weekendmarket) or is this normal for a mayongchid?
The mayongchid looks a lot like a sapodilla-tree by the way.

Bangkok they will still be laughing about it down at chatuchuk.There shouldn't be white sap and I hope you enjoy lamut.The only thing harder to get at the markets than a rare fruit tree is an honest vendor.

Cheers Mike, they got me again....
I only remember i paid 80 baht for the mayongchid and 250 for the maprang.
I learn my lessons the hard way, glad i didn't send scions to people who asked for them.
I still have loads of mangovariety's that didn't fruit yet, guess i'll have more surprises soon.......
Also i saw a vendor with loads of fingerlimes on chatuchak, but the labels were all laying loose in the growbags....a bit of wind and they all fly out haha.

No it was brought back as a seed 2 years ago and I sort of regretted chopping down my big mayon chid but it was replaced with rarer and more glamorous fruits.My brother and friend have big productive mayon chids over 12 years old and an acquaintence has a big Wan 12 years old also.

Ive if you still don't have the seeds around march then let me know and i will send them.
But to be honest i prefer mango above mayongchid. They are so small and the seed is also big. Also they grow slow.
Lamut i can only eat 1 fruit and then i'm done with them. The lamut-vietnam ( i thought it was cambodia but it's vietnam) tastes better and is bigger.
I also grow those but it didn't fruit yet. The vendor (also from chatuchak) showed me tree;s of a metre tall with fruit. This vendor i trust because he's always there and sold me a lot.
I don't understand the hype about maprang and mayongchid but they sell very well. They're not bad but a good prume is far better in my opinion.

Maprang looks like a small mango, kind of. Marang is an atrocarpus. Never tried either, but marang is supposed to be less stinky than durian.

It's hard to describe the taste, sweet/sour and fresh, less sweet then mango and more sour tones. A bit like mangosteen i think.
Mayongchid has a smaller seed then maprang and you can eat the peel as well from both.
I made icecream from them this year, pure mayongchidflesh and fresh coconut cream (not milk) and put it in the icecream-maker. That was great but i couldn't taste mayongchid in it.

Sternus you should eat durian in Asia, maybe then you like it. Yes they smell but i can't say they stink, they even sell peeled ones in the supermarkets here. Unpeeled smells stronger but everything in Asia smells. After a while it becomes normal. What really stinks is squid and everything made from it but Thai love it.

Bangkok Wan and mayon chid are 2 of the 3 main thai classes of maprang with many forms in each ranging from 30g to 150g.They mean sweet and sour to sweet (when ripe) and the duck egg sized ones have good recovery on both.The look the same and were developed in parallel by selection.
Good lines have a mango taste with hints of a few other fruits like apricot but are not as sweet or aromatic as mango.They do alright in the tropics or subtropics.

Mike i've never seen the ones from 150 gram. The biggest mayongchids are on the or-tor-kor market but still more then 10 pieces go in a kg.
To get the big ones they take half the crop from the tree when they are tiny so the rest can grow bigger.
They are also beautifull tree's with ornamental value. In Nakhon Nayok they are planted everywhere. The tree's look better then mangotree's.
