stone fruit spraying/Ceylon Gberry

Q1 Is it too late to spray peaches/nectarines with Bordeaux mix once a lot of flowers are already out?
Q2 My Celon G'berry produces lots of lovely flowers but does not set fruit, any suggestions? I have also just noticed some leaves that look as if they could have a rust, is it susceptible and any cures?

You are supposed to spray before 'bud burst', so I would say it is too late. You might damage the flowers

Yes, I'm too late as well. My miniture peach is in full flower. Can we spray carefully around the flowers?

Yes Nick, it was bad last year. I'd be better off spraying the tree and sacraficing a crop of peaches for the trees sake. Although I think you have to get the timing right or it's useless spraying it anyway. Any suggestions?

My dwarf nectarine gets even more dwarfed by it each year so this time I've taken the time to do more sprays. My first copper oxychloride spray was about June 4th and I coincidentally had another one today, and there'll be one last one during bud burst. I've also been reading up on all that companion planting stuff and apparently it helps planting a few garlics below the tree (I've got about 8 around mine, if it works theyre going in around other trees too!)

Mancozeb Plus is supposed to be safe sprayed on open flowers.
I use 30g in 4½ litres water with a good wetting agent, works for me.
Do a test like spraying only half the tree and see what happens.

Hi Julie,
It doesn't say it will on the back of the mancozeb plus pack, but it is a good fungicide.
I spray the open flowers on my dwarf peach and tropical nectarine, and have no leaf curl :-)
Don't forget to add a bit of a good wetter as well.
Might pay to wait til the small fruit forms, then spray with copper oxychloride plus mancozeb plus.
