I have a cool bananas tag with "mix" on the label that a nurseryman gave me. It turned out to be a red dacca as well, doesn't mean they all will be.

Dunno John, but how do your Blue Java taste? Mine must be about eighteen feet tall but no flowers yet. Hope they're worth the wait.

Dr Greenthumb, Red Dacca is not on the permitted banana list for SE QLD, so finding one will be pretty hard.

NSW Bananas, they all look pretty red dacca-ish to me. Is that a zebrina in your first post? (behind the red dacca?)

The blood banana is not edible. grown as an ornamental banana, as the red splotchy foliage is striking, as are the blooms. They can get a bit expensive.
Your's looks a fair bit like a zebrina. If it is an edible sp., it's a mighty fine looking plant. The looks of blood banana and a decent fruit - that sounds fantastic.
