Comments: - Purchased this plant from Daleys and planted straight into our prepared plot. Growth has been slow but only after 1.5 years since planting, we have now had flowers and what appears to be small berries.

growing in a protected area, it's been very neglected over the past few years but still produces fruit. This is one of those forgotton trees.  I read once how difficult it was to make coffee grounds so I just let it go. I now have  renewed vigure in this tree and will get some TLC it rightly deserves.

This was so slow to get started. Out of 10 seeds I only got 2 sprout and out of that I only had 1 survive. Seems to be pretty easy to keep alive now it has true leaves. Can't wait to compare it against my Arabica's for flavour and growing characteristics.

Herbs are grown as my daughter is cheffing and the coffee bean tree of which we have 1 in our rainforest has given us nearly 2 kilo is it's first pick a week ago, we now intend to plant more from the same mother tree.No chemicals, no fertilisers only rain water.

Rhino Coffee

Comments: - Kraussia floribunda, known colloquially in Africa as Rhino Coffee, being food for the Black Rhino. Has glossy green foliage and bears edible, sweet tasting, purple fruits. Suitable for pot or container allowing it's beauty to be enjoyed close up.

They are growing quite well, are still in pots but have turned into nice bushes. They flowered last summer and are still holding onto the fruit. One has grown quite large and is inside now full of fruit. the other two are outside still and are still holding onto quite a few berries.


Grow in a warm location with filtered light, they like to be watered frequently and fertilized once every month or two.

First Fruited: 1.5 Years from purchase in pot

Sun/Shade: Low Sun

Pollination: Self Pollination

Fertiliser or Organics Used: Every month or two, and every two weeks with a liquid fertilizer, but only in growing season

We have heaps of beans on our small coffee tree that have been there for at least eight months, still waiting for them to ripen.  Usually takes about 9 months, and we are just getting a couple go red now.  It's a very small bush in a pot, but producing wonderfully
