Babyl Creek Fruit Trees (Popular)
Babyl Creek Fruit Trees and the most popular plants Australians buy for mail order. With fruit trees you should consider climate suitability.
Maple - Japanese Atropurpureum
$84.00 ($24.75-$89.00 choose a size)
A small, dense tree with excellent year-round colour. Magnificent bronze-purple foliage is combined with a good shape and a useful size to make an attractive specimen tree for a protected area in the landscape. Should not be planted in exposed areas where hot summer winds may stress the tree. Leaves may suffer scorch in very hot sun.
Mango - Kensington Pride
$79.00 ($59.00-$89.00 choose a size)
Grafted selection of the Australian renowned Bowen variety, excellent flavour, very juicy and aromatic. Most famous for not being too stringy. In cooler areas with wet spring weather, flowers and young fruitlets will fail and this can very much affect yield in those years. However sometimes you can prune off these flowers to force flowering and give it a second chance. Moderate susceptibility to Anthracnose and Black Spot. Average wt. 450gms. (Sams Selection)
Chestnut - seedling
$39.00 ($19.75-$49.00 choose a size)
This European chestnut produces large sweet nuts, the kind found sold in fruit markets. Seedlings are relatively quick to bear and are generally more hardy and quick growing than Grafted trees.
Dwarf Apple - Pinkabelle PBR
$64.00 ($64.00-$79.00 choose a size)
Compact apple tree growing to only 2m high making it ideal for containers, courtyards, decks and balconies. It has delicious fruit that ripen two weeks earlier than the Pink Lady but are similar in flavour. Grows well in all temperate climates of Australia. Partially self pollinating, planting with Granny Smith will improve fruit set. This variety is subject to Plant Breeder Rights.
Special
Exclusion Net - 6m x 6m
$54.00 ($54.00-$59.00 choose a size)
This strong net is ideal for covering most fruit trees and vegetable gardens. It is also called Bee netting, as it is used to exclude Bees from pollinating fruit trees that need to be kept seedless. It is UV stabilised and it will last years if stored after each seasons fruit protection. It is a 50gsm weave. This is 6m wide and sold in multiples of 6m length, please specify in special instructions on the order if you need them cut into 6m units, as the default is to leave whole, eg 6x12m, or 6x18m up to a maximum of 6x30m. We highly recommended this for the exclusion of insects, birds and especially Fruit Fly. Fruit Fly females are large being 8mm long and sting fruit to lay their eggs only a few weeks before ripening. They shouldn't be confused with the smaller 'vinegar fly' which only attacks overripe and fallen fruit and are very hard to exclude even with 2mm netting.
