Heavy cropping variety with small pale golden fruit and a slight blush. The tree is large, vigorous and heavy bearing. One of a few varieties that will crop in the subtropics. The fruits are very flavourful and a summer stonefruit delight. Prune branches during winter. Apricots grow best in full sun positions with good drainage and a regular application of fertiliser during the growin season. Pinto Peanut and Acacia are suitable hosts as they are a legume and hence a natural nitrogen source. Keep Acacias pruned so they dont over take growth of Sandalwood. Used in the production of sandalwood oil, trees are harvested from 8 years and the entire tree is used for oil production including the roots and stump. The production of sandalwood in India and Nepal is strictly controlled by the government who owns all the trees, however illegal harvesting and smuggling is a problem due to the high value of sandalwood oil.

Royal Lee requires a pollinator which has traditionally been the older Minnie Royal but flowering times of these 2 can be mismatched in warmer areas and an intermediary is helpful. The newer, self pollinating Royal Crimson blooming can bridge between these two. Bees are the main pollinating insects, so plant flowering herbs to attract them to your garden.
