Longan Kohala By DaleysFruit.com.au [All Rights Reserved]

Longan - Kohala Seedling

A close relative to the Lychee tree but much larger, stronger and more cold tolerant. The fruit is deliciously sweet. Seed selected from the superior Kohala variety. Even though not true to type the benefits include a vigorous tree making it more suitable for marginal climates. Cincturing at about 3-4 years of age can force earlier fruiting than normally expected from seedling trees.

Macadamia Bush Nut By Esteban Salazar [CC BY-SA 2.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.0/)] From Flickr https://flic.kr/p/6afrKW

Macadamia Bush Nut

This was the first Australian native food plant to be grown by non-indigenous Australians as a commercial crop. Seedlings from the original plantation near Alstonville were used as rootstock for grafted modern varieties well into the 20th Century. Since the clearing of the Big Scrub the genetic diversity of this valuable nut species has been reduced significantly. Very hardy and easily grown along most of Australia's east coast and even down into Victoria.

Papaya- Yellow YD1B Hybrid

The most widely grown of all the hybrids in Australia, fruit is oblong, is very clean, flesh is firm, and is a medium yielding tree. Hybrids are the result of crossing 2 (stable) parent lines. Hybrids are more vigorous than their parents, produce more fruit and are less susceptible to disease. All papaya are affected by climatic changes but when grown under stable conditions hybrids are very consistent in fruit shape and size.
