Loquat - Nagasakiwase

The best Japanese variety so far, it has deep orange flesh, high flesh/seed ratio and very sweet flavour. Earliest variety to ripen. Thinning fruit will enhance fruit size. The Nagasakiwase often has 2 crops a year in the subtropics. The first crop in April / May then again in August. We have found by cincturing in summer, the August crop has a much larger crop and better fruit size.

Birds love them too so make sure you cover them if you don't want to share. You can also get multiple crops by pruning immediately after your first crop.

This is a self fertile cultivar from New Zealand. It is a small, productive, vigorous tree growing to about 2.5m making it ideal for smaller back yards. Fruit has a good, mildly aromatic flavour. It is medium sized with flesh that is smooth, soft and juicy. Fruits ripen early in the season. Performs well in cooler areas. The fruit handles well and is a good keeper.

Produces large fruit that are yellow in colour with white flesh. Unlike other yellow varieties, the Aussie Gold is a thornless Dragon Fruit. Excellent quality up to 1.5kg in weight. Good flavour and an attractive, easy to handle fruit. Does best with a pollinator. You could use the Pearl Dragonfruit as pollinator.
