Large, elongated, dark red to black fruit that is super sweet with berry flavours. A real stand out in size. Mid season ripening on a large tree suited to big backyards. Canistel - Ross Sapote

A seedling selection that is similar to a canistel but the fruit tends to be moister and less mealy than a canistel. They also tend to split open at the top like a flower opening when they fruits are fully ripe. The tree is slow growing and easy to control, once established they are drought tolerant. Called Eggfruit due in part to the texture of the pulp being similar to the yolk of a hard-boiled egg but the flesh is sweet like caramel.
