Very early fruiting and easy peeling. High sugar levels in fruit. Very popular export variety. One of the main satsuma varieties of Japan. Slow growing dwarf tree. Fruit is better flavoured than the common Silverhill variety although a little smaller.

A red fleshed navel, this variety was discovered in Venezuela in 1976. It has pink to red flesh similar to Star Ruby grapefruit. In South Africa it matures slightly earlier than Washington navel. Yesterday I counted 38 mostly fruit trees in my small backyard purchased from Daleys Nursery and all are strong and thriving. Last year I ate a Satsuma mandarin for the first time and determined to contact Daleys as soon as I got back home. I did, and you produced one , and it has settled in like it "really wants to be here"! It is in a 100 litre bag in a bright but protected position. It is now Autumn 2023, three months after arrival here , and this morning I see minuscule new growth all over

Mandarin - Miho Wase (Satsuma)

Armidale is at 950m and has a cold climate. Both Silverhill and Miho fruit well if grown out out of frosty pockets and Miho is maturing May-June and has a lovely sweet flavour. Silverhill is a bit later and not quite as sweet.
