Low nitrogen fertiliser.

Im wanting to grow potatoes in a conatiner next winter and can not find a fertiliser with low Nitrogen and higher P.K.
Can someone recommend one. Plenty in the US but none here.

Hi, where are you looking for fertilizers, garden shops or farming supplies? I guess you are trying to find the exact formula say NPK 359, in one product, wheras farmers might use different fertilizers to achieve that result ie an NPK plus super phosphate plus a potassium fertilizer Potassium sulphate to boost P and K. Many organic fertilizers are going to be lower N ie NPK 2 1.5 3 etc. Also you could boost K with kelp products and P with chicken manure. I think its hard to directly compare the USA fertilizers with Australian fertilizers. I vaguely remember some difference in the way they calculate NPK.

Also if you are growing in containers, and using bagged pot mix, you should check the fertilizer already in the mix.
If you add extra fert, it will add on to whats already there, so the levels/balance of NPK you are aiming for may throw out. If you are making your own mix, some things like coco/coir have high K levels.

Thanks jakfruit etiquette for your reply. Ive been looking for fertilizers at bunnings and online farming supplies and havent found anything with low N and higher P,K. Your suggestion of different fertilizers seems the only way to achieve this. You said people use potato E. N4.0, P7.0, K7>0, where do you get this fertilizer?

I don't use it myself as I grow organically. I use blood and bone with rock minerals, with liquid feeds of Powerfeed and Seasol fairly often. I add some potash if I think it's needed.
