Product of China?
Big seedless lychees should be available to growers here in a few years. There is at least one in the pipeline now. There are a few types of seedless lychees and other extraordinary varieties that are just coming out of China now. The selection of these new varieties are no different than the selection of thousands of other lychee varieties in the past and the Chinese have been improving them since the 1400s at least, so they have them almost at the point of perfection now.

M Nash you will be pleased to know that green tape will soon be gone from qld.Logging and shooting in National Parks will be allowed, contaminated discharges from mines will be permitted and development in flood prone areas like parts of Grantham,Toowoomba,Brisbane and Emerald will be welcomed. It is not just green tape but also greens policy stuff like holding back heavy metals discharges to the great barrier reef, controlling the use of pesticides, limiting vegetation clearing, endangered species iniatives and limiting fire-arms use that are obstructing good wholesome activities.Science needs to be controlled especially with climate change, evolution and poison studies. What would the scientist know?

There were already many improved chinese lychees by the 1400's so yes they must have a few good types by now.It is amazing how far ahead with tropical horticulture they are in SE Asia.We should should be riding on their coat-tails and getting whatever can make it through the customs brick wall.

Very nice!
How do they taste?
Usually when someone finds a good fruit you'd ask them to send you a seed, but with this one...

Hi BJ, Taste is somewhat restrained, firm yet yeilding to the palate, juicey and nice after taste. Tried to find the variety on the box but no lick that i could see, marketed as seedless lychees.

Did it say that they were imported from China? Birdwood are going to release one to growers here in a few years, all things going well.

Mike,
I am pleased about that and we dont need the green party to fight our wars.
Im a shooter, Fisherman, Fine wood carpenter, Believe climate change is natural and believe in a fare go for those that but up the balls to create industry and jobs.
The sky is not falling down on us.
However I do agree with you about run off and a whole bunch of other things like bubble heads and whale watchers anoying the hell out of marine wildlife also come to mind. Fix that and we would not need marine parks,, well we dont need them anyway. Just good management.
Im also a gardener that listens to the Earth around me. I dont have to be a greenie to understand that.
Anyway, Piece to you, I was only having a joke : ) Now you know im "different" are you still going to respect me in the morning?

M Nash I also enjoy fishing and have friends who carve and do recreational shooting or are climate change sceptics.Even they are not cheering on the shooting in National Parks, changing national parks to forestry to allow logging or relaxation of mining and development standards. The sky has fallen a bit at the outpost with 100's of millions of $ being funnelled back to briz and govt projects being cancelled. The sackings include bus drivers, child care workers, road workers, legal aid and many others.I also have concerns about the censorship of science it is not what people voted for.

Here's an idea.- why not give the carbon dioxide levels on the TV weather. - then everyone can see the inexorable rise . Currently, it is a shade under 400ppm , I understand. PS "Greenies" is pejorative ; try Greens . "Greenies" are associated with nasal secretions.

I hope they have some seedless lychees in town today - I'm going for a search on my lunch break! I have a feeling they are only being stocked in the parts of town with higher % East Asian populations.
