snottiegobble starts with ... Anyone had any luck growing Japanese yuzu, the ugly fruited prickly citrus with a fantastic scent? I was sent some seeds by a FB friend, & have one seedling that has survived to reach around 15cms! Very slow growing at this stage in a pot, & I would like to plant it out this spring so advice by someone with experience with yuzu would be very appreciated ! | About the Author snottiegobble CAPEL,6271,WA 2nd September 2019 12:46am #UserID: 3468 Posts: 1458 View All snottiegobble's Edible Fruit Trees |

denise1 says... Thanks for highlighting this anomaly. I looked into it. Citron is Citrus medica and Yuzu is Citrus junos. They are very different to each other . I think only the mandarin chinese would mistake the two as we wouldnt call a pomelo a yuzu. There are many fruit name anomalies. . Some call Eugenia uniflora the brazilian cherry when that name belongs to Eugenia braziliensis according to the growers in South America and the USA. and New Zealand. Eugenia uniflora is Surinam cherry or sometimes Pitanga. . Pouteria caimito is the Abiu aka caimito and the star apple is Chrysophyllum cainito and also called Caimito. If you look through the books you will find many other examples. | About the Author denise1 auckland NZ 3rd September 2019 4:50pm #UserID: 6832 Posts: 688 View All denise1's Edible Fruit Trees |

jakfruit etiquette says... Hi Manfred, the Yuzu is a particular variety. Its not a Citron, its more related to Papedas, ie Kaffir Lime. There is a group of related Yuzu type fruit also, see this article about Japanese Citrus. https://www.oishisojapan.com/home/2017/11/22/citrus-japanese-fruit-kankitsukei | About the Author jakfruit etiquette vic 4th September 2019 7:53am #UserID: 5133 Posts: 915 View All jakfruit etiquette's Edible Fruit Trees |
