Almond - Garden Prince Dwarf 8/10

Zeni's Edible Fruits
Update: 6103 days 23hrs

This variety apparently only requires 250hrs chill and would therefore fruit for me. I've only see it on tree lists in USA so I'm still waiting for someone to trial it here in Oz.

Is growing quite well, it is a dwarf cool variety. During spring and summer if i look after it properly it grows like a weed and has now turned into about 6 medium sized plants.

During winter they look sick and die back but shoot back up in spring again. they are in pots at the moment so they havent fruited. ill plant them into the greenhouse when its completed and hopefully theyll grow into large plants full of fruit

Summer 2011: VERY kind gift from my lovely friend John. I am very honoured to have one of his precious babies. She hasn't liked the cold but the last week has been a bit warmer and I am just noticing new leaves unfurling!

Summer 2012: Has lovely purple spots on the leaves as they mature.

incredible production from such a small banana tree, A little over 2m tall and producing very large bunches. Definately needs staking because of the ratio of fruit to tree.

Amanda's Edible Fruits
Update: 2568 days 19hrs

Comments: - My favourite banana out of our vareties. It has an amazing flavour, sweet but a touch of sherbet, and a heavenly banana flavour. Does not discolour when dried.
A nice small plant too...very easy to harvest at ground level. Big bunches, sturdy in strong winds. A prefect choice for a backyard banana.
They need a lot of water in our WA sands and are heavy feeders - so it is best to improve the sand with kaolin clay and fine coir compost, to save water and fertilisers. It takes about 1.5yrs for a pup to bring a bunch to harvest here.

Fertiliser or Organics Used: Balanced acid lovers extra potash and ammonium sulphate added. Little and often.
