Naranjilla (Seedling) 10/10 Sean1's Edible FruitsUpdate: 5238 days 18hrs Comments: - Bought this in August 2011in a 140mm pot , it was about 200mm high. Now (early Nov2011) it is about 900mm high & very attractive. In a pot in azalea mix, doing very well thanks to all the tips from Daleys customers.(shaded spot) I'll probably get another one to increase pollination but even if it doesn't fruit it's a striking looking plant. Surprised it isn't grown just as a feature plant. Very happy. Lots of flowers over summer but no fruit, has sent up 2 suckers Planted: 2011 Height 1 metres Growing: In a Pot Sun/Shade: Low Sun Water Given in: Spring Pollination: Self Pollination Fertiliser or Organics Used: Dynamic Lifter, Seasol When I Fertilise: When Fruiting and Spring Pest Control: None needed so far Was this review helpful? Naranjilla Diana's Edible FruitsUpdate: 5264 days 19hrs Comments: - Vigorous plant, prone to falling over but stems grow along the ground then. Fruit take months and months to ripen. I have got rid of this now, as the hairs and spines on the plant are so noxious (they irritate your skin and make you cough- the fruit are not worth this). Fruiting Months October and November Planted: 2009 Height 2.5 metres Growing: In the Ground Qty: 3 First Fruited: 1 Years from purchase in pot Sun/Shade: Low Sun Pollination: Self Pollination Was this review helpful? Naranjilla 8/10 Xhristofer's Edible FruitsUpdate: 5452 days 15hrs Comments: - Interesting and beautiful plant. Watch those prickles! Seems to be a spreading variety and it sends runners off in every direction. Only growns about 1.5M tall and then spreads out. Seems to fruit all year round. Fruit is golf ball size or slightly larger on mine. Orange furry skin with bright green flesh amidst a multitude of tiny edible seeds. The flesh/seeds can be sucked out through that skin once wiped thoroughly to remove hairs. A little tarty straight from the tree. But add vanilla icecream and it tastes surprisingly like good strawberries. Simply delicious eaten this way! Planted: 2009 Height 1.5 metres Growing: In the Ground Qty: 1 Fruit Harvest: 3 kilograms per Year First Fruited: 1 Years from purchase in pot Sun/Shade: Full Sun Water Given in: Spring Pollination: Self Pollination Pest Control: Fruit is not botherd by any pest here. Grass hoppers like to nibble the leaves a little. Was this review helpful? Yes | No | Report 8 of 12 people found this review useful |
naranjilla 5/10BRENDAN1's Edible FruitsUpdate: 5523 days 3hrs Comments: - needs regular water keep out of direct sun in summer after 2 years is starting to fruit ( march 2010 ) likes 8 - 10 hours of light to set fruit form my reading lush looking with large deep green leaves with a purple tinge as daleys suggest pollination is low in november 2010 the fruit turns orange , rub the hairs off and the flavour is worth waiting for. unfortunatrely there isn't a lot of fruit and the fruit are only slightly bigger than an inch across but delish

Naranjilla (Seedling) Daniuel's Edible FruitsUpdate: 5675 days 14hrs Comments: - Grew very quickly. Very spiky leaves and multiple stems. Flowering since mid-summer but has not set fruit yet. Daleys told me it can flower for months before it actually sets fruit. I look at it every day to see if the first fruit has arrived. 6 months llater it is still flowering like crazy but still not one fruit has set. Plant is vigorous and healthy - looks very happy where it is. Planted: 2009 Height 2 metres Growing: In the Ground Qty: 1 Sun/Shade: Full Sun Pest Control: None, and something is eating the leaves.
