Casuarina (nsw) Fruit Trees (Popular)
Casuarina (nsw) Fruit Trees and the most popular plants Australians buy for mail order. With fruit trees you should consider climate suitability.
Dwarf Coconut Green
$79.00 ($79.00-$99.00 choose a size)
Moderate sized fruit with large volume-to-husk ratio. Reputedly the sweetest fruits for drinking. These high yielding precocious hybrid selections will grow outside of the tropics, in a warm and sheltered position. Worth trying in coastal locations as far south as Coffs Harbour. They will require free draining soil and are best planted deep with a deep organic mulch surrounding them. If you ever have to remove them, the heart is also edible and quite palatable.
Dwarf Apple - Tropical Anna
$49.00 ($49.00-$79.00 choose a size)
Delicious crunchy apples similar to their cold climate cousins, Red Delicious, but only require a low amount of chill. On a semi dwarfing rootstock they are ideal for backyard plantings and container specimens. Anna will set some fruit on its own, an added bonus for small areas. Pollinate with Dorsett Golden or Tropic Sweet for greater fruit set. An apple best eaten fresh off the tree as they are not a storing apple.
Lime - Tahitian
$44.95 ($39.00-$99.00 choose a size)
The small to medium fruit is pale lemon-yellow with smooth thin skin. The flesh is a translucent pale green, tender and juicy with a true acid lime flavour. It is best to pick the fruit green as it can suffer from rot if left to ripen on the tree.
Blueberry - Burst (PBR)
$31.95 ($31.95-$99.00 choose a size)
The fruit is a crisp fleshed, sweet fruit, harvested over 3 - 4 months resulting in a constant supply of delicious, healthy fruit, filled with anti oxidants. Blueberries have been nick named Brain Berries and Youth Berries because of the high anti oxidant levels in them. This variety is an evergreen, naturally dwarfing variety growing to 1.0m high x 0.75m in width. It is self fruitful and because of its low chilling requirement can be grown anywhere in Australia. This variety has been growing in trials in both warmer and cooler climates in Australia with great success in all climates.
Dwarf Persimmon - Fuyu (NA)
$79.00 ($79.00-$79.00 choose a size)
Fuyu is a semi-dwarf variety, well suited to growing in small backyards and can be kept to 2m with pruning. The fruit is large and flat, orange-red in colour with a sweet, mild flavour. Great eaten crunchy but just luscious when left to go soft. Besides producing delicious fruit, Persimmons are highly ornamental with their beautiful autumn foliage. Non astringent, so can be eaten when still hard. When young, protect from hot afternoon sun, and when dormant, from wet conditions. Seedless when grown on their own. If cross pollinating with another variety they can have seeds in the flesh as shown in the display picture.
