Had to cut some branches off my cinnamon tree a few weeks ago and stuck some pieces in a jug of water because the red flush was so pretty... now I THINK some of them are growing roots!! These pieces, unlike others that died, still have green leaves and when I pulled them out of the water I see these white things on the stems - are they the beginning of roots?

Yes, it would be exciting if I can strike the cinnamon from cuttings. :) Nick and I both tried and failed. I think the trick is to cut into wood.

I have planted the two surviving pieces of cinnamon cuttings into potting mix after standing them in water for a few weeks. Some leaves died and others were chewed by something but they are still alive! Fingers crossed. I am giving them worm tea and seasol.
