They grow wild here too. I tried them in a Thai curry once, and was not impressed! Ended up picking them out and losing them, they were yuk :-(

Jk where are you, I have something similar growing in Perth Innaloo, but I wouldn't want to be the one to ID it for eating etc. If you just want a eggplant perennial rootstock this one I have is fine. Otherwise swing over and check. They strike readily from cuttings.

Actually, they crush the berries before cooking, which gets rid of the bitterness,

They are tricky to sprout. Plenty written about it on internet. Need warm weather, not too much water, perseverence and a bit of luck.

jakfruit etiquette says...
I dont think they have a very long seed life if stored, or they go into tricky dormancy so hard to germinate. Fresh seed is easiest, and need to get seed out of the ripe berries before they go off.
