Blueberry - Gulfcoast (Cutting) 10/10Kate816's Edible FruitsUpdate: 426 days 0hrs Comments: - Happy plant, even though our dog "pruned" it by snapping the tallest branch off that I then tried to propagate as a cutting (it didn't work). At least it will grow back, it is a healthy happy bush even if it is now shorter than the others. Blueberry - Sunshine Blue (Cutting) 10/10Kate816's Edible FruitsUpdate: 426 days 0hrs Comments: - gorgeous healthy happy pretty plant. We plan to make a blueberry hedge, we have 9 blueberry plants, all different, three in ground, 6 in pots. The ones in pots are just waiting for an old weed tree to be cut down by hubby when he gets time. Then the hedge will be grown along the fence for delightful use by our kids and our neighbours' kids. Blueberry - Brightwell (Cutting) 4/10Kate816's Edible FruitsUpdate: 426 days 0hrs Comments: - struggling with this one, yet all of my other blueberries are thriving. I don't get it. We have 9 blueberries (one each of Misty, Biloxi, Sharpeblue, OB1, Sunshine, Gulf, Burst, Kisses, and Brightwell) but this one all the leaves curles and dropped and it's just twigs now. Same conditions, potted, same soil mix (Searles Peat 80 mixed with peat moss and a seasol drink when potted then fertilised with dunamic lifter and mulched with peat moss). Was this review helpful? Blueberry - Biloxi (Cutting)1010501's Edible FruitsUpdate: 954 days 18hrs Comments: - Plant arrived in Feb 2020 in great condition with soil still damp. Will plant this into a pot after 1-2 weeks outside and provide updates. Planted in Rose, Gardenia, Azalea and Camellia potting mix - after a few weeks had some trouble with leaves turning yellow with green veins and browing of leaf tips. pH testing showed the soil had a neutral pH close to 7. Added some urea to the soil and have gradually seen improvment in the leaves. Flower buds forming May 2020. Jan 2021 after flowering and fruiting (much less prolifically than blueberry burst & kisses), the plant unfortunately died - likely a combination of inconsistent watering over a hot summer & ?soil pH too high. Planted: 2020 Growing: In a Pot Qty: 1 Sun/Shade: Medium Sun Pollination: Cross Pollination Cross Pollinator Variety: Sunshine Blue, Blueberry Burst, Blueberry Kisses Was this review helpful? Blueberry - Burst (PBR) (Cutting) 8/10Homegrownsbest's Edible FruitsUpdate: 1658 days 17hrs Comments: - Still too young to really comment too much yet. Only purchased about 2 months ago. It's currently in full sun (I'm in Ipswich Qld so some fearce summer days) which I'm finding for most of my blueberries the 13 hours a day full sun is just too much to bare so I'm in the process of building a frame to net to assist with some relief from that afternoon sun (and birds of course when fruiting). So I'll see what happens over the coming months. I water almost daily depending on weather. I planted this smaller variety in a 50cm pot and made the medium as I do for all the blueberries. BIG bottom layer of course grade pine bark then equal amounts of peat moss, coir peat and perlite (with some more pine bark mixed through) with a good thick layer of small pine bark on top. Planted: 2015 Height 30 Centimetres Growing: In a Pot Qty: 2 Sun/Shade: Full Sun Water Given in: Autumn, Winter, Spring Summer, Autumn, Winter, SpringPollination: Self Pollination Fertiliser or Organics Used: azalea and rose slow release (high acidity), organic pellets and coffee grounds When I Fertilise: When Fruiting, Yearly, Winter, Spring Pest Control: none as yet Organic Status:Partially Organic Was this review helpful? Blueberry - Biloxi (Cutting) 10/10Homegrownsbest's Edible FruitsUpdate: 1658 days 17hrs Comments: - Had some nice blueberries off the Biloxi, not as big as the Misty, though it's still very young. I've started to (with all my blueberries) remove the flowers and concentrate more on plant growth. I've pruned several weeks ago and already there is new growth. I planted in planter bags and raised garden beds with a BIG bottom layer of course grade pine bark then equal amounts of peat moss, coir peat, and perlite and a really good thick layer of small pine bark on the top. I have 5 berries in the raised garden beds but am about to repot to planter bags as its easier to maintain PH levels, water, feed and relocate if needed to meet different weather conditions, or if you just change your mind which I am prone to do :) 5/12/16 - UPDATE: What a little beauty the Biloxi has turned into! Fruiting like a champion and just beautiful. Got about 3kg off this so far and it's still full of fruit. Just finished completely netting the Blueberries today as birds are becoming a real pest! About 1 metre high now and getting quite bushy. I pruned really well last season before I transplanted from the raised garden beds to the planter bag and its never looked back. Feeding with an organic acid loving slow release fertilser and a Seasol tonic monthly. Watering about every 2nd day (except in this heatwave, it's been most days) and less in Winter. Still in the planter bag and going great guns. I do have many beneficial pollinators for the Biloxi in close proximity which has probably played a significant role in the higher yield. Blueberry - Gulfcoast (Cutting) 10/10Homegrownsbest's Edible FruitsUpdate: 1658 days 17hrs Comments: - Still too young to really make any comment on it but seems to be growing well. Got new little shoots on it so it must be happy. I water virtually daily depending on weather. I planted in planter bags and raised garden beds with a BIG bottom layer of course grade pine bark then equal amounts of peat moss, coir peat, perlite and some pine bark mixed through the main medium mix and a really good thick layer of "small" pine bark on the top. I have 5 berries in the raised garden beds but am about to repot to planter bags as its easier to maintain PH levels, water, feed and relocate if needed to meet different weather conditions, or if you just change your mind :) 5/12/16 - UPDATE: About 1m high now and growing beautifully. Blueberries are HUGE and taste beautiful! Most are the size of 10c piece. I've just completely netted the Blueberries today as a variety of birds are becoming a real pest! Can't blame them I suppose. Can't wait to see what this little beauty brings on next season as it matures. My Biloxi (3yr old) produced about 3kg this year and the Blueberries arent as huge as this Gulfcoast.....good times ahead :) I do have many other beneficial pollinators in very close proximity to the Gulfcoast. Feeding with an organic acid loving slow realease fertilser and a Seasol tonic about monthly and water about every 2nd day (most days lately in this heatwave) depending on weather...less in Winter of course. Blueberry - Powderblue (Cutting) 5/10Homegrownsbest's Edible FruitsUpdate: 1658 days 17hrs Comments: - Way too young to comment on the plant itself yet. Purcahsed mainly as a pollinator for my 2 Blueberry Britewell. It's getting a bit of a beating from the sun at present as you can probably see in the leaves. Planting in pots and planter bags I just find it easier to maintain PH levels, water, feed and relocate if needed to meet different weather conditions, or if you just change your mind on location, which Im prone to do :) Planter bags I found really reasonably priced at a plcae on the Gold Coast and they do deliver. Havent done much fertilising on the Powderblue as yet but tend to use rose, gardenia and azalea slow release (high acidity), coffee grounds and organic pellets.Height 40 Centimetres Growing: In a Pot Qty: 1 Sun/Shade: Full Sun Water Given in: Spring SpringPollination: Cross Pollination When I Fertilise: When Fruiting, Yearly, Winter, Spring Organic Status:Organic Was this review helpful? Blueberry Burst (Seedling) 5/10Branny1's Edible FruitsUpdate: 2132 days 18hrs Comments: - Tried but DIED. I had three of these. All of them are gone now. They were in a layered bed, with lots of lovely broken down composted material, and I mulched them with pine needles collected locally. At first, they did well. One up and died within a few weeks, though, and the others lasted a few years. But they were spindly, water hungry all the time, and the fruit was nice, but sparce. The bed kept becoming over run with invasive Coastal Morning Glory, and so they would be strangled and starved of nutrients, and I'd detangle them, and fuss over them, and they've be fine, but they never THRIVED. I have a feeling it was partially the location, but also our climate in Brisbane. Ended up dying in a week of particularly brutal summer heat. They were not particularly productive, and needed too much water to make them worth it. I'd prefer to pay $5 a punnet every once in a while, then an extra $50 on my water bill. Panama Berries and Mulberries are far tastier anyway! Height 0.3 metres Growing: In a Pot Qty: 3 Water Given in: Spring SpringPollination: No Was this review helpful?
