Dwarf Kumquat Calamondin (Grafted) 8/10

Terrastrega's Edible Fruits
Update: 1509 days 13hrs

Comments: -

My little dwarf Calomondin (I call them calamansi) and fig- Black Genoa tree arrived by post all safe and snug in their box from Daleys yesterday.

Called up Daleys and the lady on the phone (Kathrine I think her name was... sorry I am really bad with names) was very cheerful and helful in answering questions I had regarding my little calomondin. She recommended to pick off any fruit on the tree when it arrives before plabting it to allow the plant to concentrate on growing and establishing. Very nice people to deal with..

2013 Update: This tree is growing very well in its pot and has put out little fruit last year and this year. Plenty of flowers starting to form. Can't wait, this makes a delicious juice drink. Scale and aphids were a minor problem that was treated with pyrethrium and scale spray.

2014: It was a bit neglected and decided to plant it into the ground sometime in April this year. Fertilise with chook manure and blood and bone and seaweed extract and mulch. Tree developed nice new growth. It has lots of little fruit forming on the tree at the moment (Oct).

Kumquat - Nagami (Grafted) 9/10

Slicko's Edible Fruits
Update: 2643 days 8hrs

Comments: -

I had always thought that the only thing Kumquats were good for was the making of marmalade. Until, until that is when I recently had one to eat. The initial reation was the reaction to the sourness of the juice, but then as I started to chew on the skin I realised just  how sweet it was.

I was an immediate convert!

I am growing this in a pot and it has suffered some fruit drop in the hot dry weather we are having.at the moment. I am going to have to get a good layer of mulch on it.

Occassional scale, but don't use commercial White Oil spray - all leaves fell off, and some branches died-back.

Emma1's Edible Fruits
Update: 4958 days 6hrs

Comments: -

I love eating these sweet-sour lemonly citrus straight- especially for their sweet rind. Out of the fruit trees I have planted these were the first to have fruit, and from family I know they are a very productive plant. Unfortunately the possum wanted to try too and climbed up the stalk of one yound bush, causing it to snap in half. It seems to be still surving by a sliver of bark, and I think it has a new bud coming from above the graft mark so that is good news.
