There are two different plants with the same name: A true guava and feioja. Both have not fruited for me (yet). Which one do you have?
I guess, it is the feijoa. There is info (also in this forum)that feijoa is one of those trees which should be one of the grafted named cultivars, as seedlings disappoint.

Hi dan, im not if they need su but mine and others seem to love it! Theyre supposedly drought tolerant but Id still add some compost/ manure and water it well. :)

I bought a Feijoa today but it is a seedling. Seeing as they 'disappoint' I might change it. How self-fertile are seedlings?

Seedlings usually have very good fruit in my experience. Most of the seedling trees in my area have fruit the equal of named varieties.
You really should get a second plant for pollinating as they are not usually very self-fertile.

Would feijoa cross pollinate with guava? I just bought a Unique and they said it self pollinates but then said it's better to have another. I have guavas - would they do ? :)

Thanks, Miranda; lots of flowers on both at the moment so it's looking good. Lots of bagging to do soon. Figs too.

Howdy Mary.Call me a sceptic but I think the genera are too far apart to allow pollination.

Hi Mike; we like to indulge in wishful thinking sometimes :) Anyway the Unique is supposed to be self fertilising to some extent, so fingers crossed :)
